Giraffe Center, Karen Blixen, Kazuri Beads Day Tour.

The day’s destinations are within Nairobi city thus a great informative tour that does not involve a lot of travelling.

You shall be picked from your hotel at 8 Am in the morning to start the day tour. The first stop will be at the Giraffe center, 30 minutes from Nairobi CBD. At the giraffe center you shall discover the hundreds of the endangered Rothschild giraffes from an elevated platform where you can see them an eye to an eye. Enjoy feeding the giraffes and petting them with the closest view you can have in Kenya.

After lunch, visit to the Karen Blixen Museum at the foot of Ngong hills. Discover the history of Karen Blixen a Danish author of the Famous book Out Of Africa. The home houses the furniture, the library, the gallery that points back to Karen Blixen’s life and that of her husband Baron Bror von Blixen Fincke. They were European settlers who owned a coffee farm and factory at the Ngong hills.

Wind up the day at the Kazuri Beads factory. The bead factory is a community welfare program was started in 1975 with an aim of empowering single mothers with beading and pottery skills that would later help them raise their families through its economic value. From the humbled begging of two women, the factory has grown to over a hundred employed workers. During the tour, you will be able to go through the beading and molding process till the last one. For sure after going through the whole process, you can help not to buy yourself some bead work or a gift for someone.

After the full day of exploring the city, you shall be taken back to your hotel to mark the end of safari.
